We are excited to share the latest updates from The Global Child (TGC)! This past month has been full of learning, growth, and community engagement. Thank you for your continued support, which makes all of this possible.
2025 Mentorship Program Concludes
Our 2025 Mentorship Program has come to a successful close. The final event brought together 128 students and 50 parents for practical training sessions in First Aid, English, Math, and financial literacy. Following the workshops, 131 students, parents, and teachers gathered for a closing meeting focused on the important roles of sports and education. The day concluded with a picnic near Bakong Temple, a wonderful celebration of our community and everyone’s dedication to learning.

Visit from Bill – S.E. Asia Foundation
A warm welcome to Bill, who visited our newly expanded classroom for K5 students, made possible by the S.E. Asia Foundation. His encouragement inspired our students to make the most of their education. We are so grateful for this ongoing partnership.
Bird Lesson with CBGA
We were once again honored to join the Cambodian Bird Guide Association (CBGA). Thirty students and staff joined this extracurricular activity to learn about bird species in the wetlands of Tonle Sap Lake. Huge thanks to Mr. David, Mr. Johnny, and the CBGA team for sharing their expertise.
Alumni Spotlight – Giving Back
Our alumni continue to inspire! Pengkong, a fifth-year architecture student, volunteers every weekend to teach computer skills to Grade 5 students. His dedication to giving back makes him a role model for younger generations.
Congratulations to Venerable Sothol
We are proud to share that our morality teacher, Venerable Phornn Sothol, has earned a scholarship to pursue his Master’s degree in English in India. He has been part of TGC since 2023, and while we will miss him, we celebrate this next chapter in his journey.
K11 Internship Program
Our K11 students have started a two-month internship program in Siem Reap. Working as receptionists and administrators in local hotels and restaurants, they will build valuable skills and gain hands-on experience with guests from around the world. This program offers countless opportunities to apply what they’ve learned at TGC and prepare for their future careers.
Department of Social Affairs Visit
We hosted the Deputy Chair of the Department of Social Affairs and his team, who reviewed our MoU request with the Ministry. They expressed strong appreciation for TGC’s work and thanked our donors for supporting vulnerable Cambodian children.
Welcome Back, Gigi!
We were thrilled to welcome back Gigi, who first joined us from Union College’s Minerva Fellow Program in 2021–2022. The students and staff loved reconnecting with her, and her visit reminded us of the lasting impact volunteers have at TGC.
Pchum Ben Festival
To honor this important Cambodian tradition, students and staff visited Wat Chet Dey Pagoda. Together, we offered food to monks and expressed gratitude to our ancestors—living TGC’s values of respect, community, and gratitude.
TGC Featured in Metroland Now!
We’re incredibly proud to share that The Global Child was featured in the July issue of Metroland Now! The article highlights our mission, our 21-year history, and the inspiring journey of our Director of Marketing, Elisabeth Dubois—whose childhood drawing became the TGC logo.
The feature also shines a spotlight on our graduates—over 100 strong—who are now studying to become doctors, architects, computer scientists, and teachers. It’s a powerful reminder of how education truly transforms lives.
