Mr. Dara Heng is the esteemed School Principal of The Global Child, bringing a profound commitment to education and community upliftment since joining in 2009. With over 20 years of experience in teaching, his extensive background is a cornerstone of our academic excellence. Academically, Mr. Dara is highly accomplished, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in TEFL and a Master’s Degree in Education Management. His dedication to continuous learning is evident as he is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Education Management.

Beyond his significant leadership at The Global Child, Mr. Dara is deeply passionate about community work. He actively serves in NGO Networks, undertakes numerous volunteering jobs, and contributes as a board member for several local NGOs in Siem Reap. His involvement in various social work initiatives for non-profits underscores his unwavering commitment to improving lives.

Mr. Dara’s leadership is driven by a genuine passion for education and helping poor children from difficult backgrounds in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Under his guidance, The Global Child continues to thrive, providing the best possible environment for our students to learn, grow, and build brighter futures.

Mr. Vin Cheatra joined The Global Child in 2025 as our lead Computer Teacher. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cheatra is a specialist in digital literacy, dedicated to equipping students with the technical skills required in today’s workforce.

His classroom focus goes beyond basic typing; he is passionate about guiding students through the complexities of the evolving tech landscape. By fostering critical thinking and technological proficiency, Cheatra ensures our students are not just users of technology, but creators and innovators prepared for the future.

Phet Chhim brings extensive expertise and a passion for creative education to The Global Child. With over 15 years of experience in his field, he skillfully teaches our students collage art and architecture.

Phet holds a Ph.D. in Architecture, which undoubtedly informs his structured approach to teaching and project oversight. His unique blend of artistic instruction and management acumen provides our former street children with valuable skills, fostering their creativity and introducing them to fundamental concepts in design and construction.

Hourn Hun has been a cherished member of The Global Child team since 2013, sharing the rich cultural heritage of Cambodia as one of our dedicated Khmer Traditional Dance teachers.

Her role is instrumental in helping us preserve and promote Cambodian heritage through dance, providing our students with a profound connection to their roots. Through her instruction, Hourn not only teaches intricate movements but also instills discipline, grace, and a deep appreciation for the arts, greatly enriching the lives of the former street children we serve in Krong Siem Reap.

Chaylon Kheang is an invaluable member of The Global Child leadership team, serving as our Assistant School Principal and a versatile educator for numerous subjects. Joining TGC in 2010, Chaylon brings an impressive 20 years of prior management and teaching experiences to her role, complementing her Master’s Degree in Management.

Beyond her administrative duties, Chaylon’s passion for education shines through her diverse teaching portfolio. She expertly instructs students in essential subjects such as Khmer, Math, Physics, Science, and Home Affairs. Additionally, her dedication extends to our Mentoring and Social Program, where she plays a crucial role in providing holistic support and guidance to our students. Chaylon’s extensive experience and commitment to both academic and personal development are vital in empowering our students to reach their full potential.

A cornerstone of The Global Child since 2011, Mr. Orn Pheoun serves as our Operations Manager. With a Vocational Training Degree and over a decade of hands-on experience, Orn is responsible for the vital infrastructure that keeps our school running. He ensures our facilities are safe, functional, and optimized for student success.

Orn’s work is the backbone of our daily activities. From maintaining a stable learning environment to managing logistics behind the scenes, his dedication allows our educators and students to focus entirely on their growth. His long-standing commitment and operational expertise make him an indispensable leader within our organization.

Sophanna Prak brings a vibrant energy and deep passion for the arts to The Global Child, serving as our dedicated Music Teacher. With over 10 years of experience in music education, Sophanna enriches our students’ lives through the power of sound.

For many years, Sophanna has been actively composing, playing, and sharing his original music, fostering a creative and inspiring environment. His dedication to both teaching and his personal artistry allows him to connect with our students, offering them a unique opportunity to explore their talents, build confidence, and discover the joy of musical expression. Sophanna’s contribution is vital in providing a holistic education for the former street children we serve.

Chanthou Soeurng has been the dedicated Administrator of The Global Child since 2015, playing a pivotal role in the smooth and effective operation of our organization. With a Bachelor’s Degree, Chanthou brings essential organizational and management skills to her position.

Her meticulous work behind the scenes ensures that all administrative aspects of The Global Child run efficiently, directly supporting our educational programs and the well-being of the former street children we serve. Chanthou’s commitment to excellence helps to create a stable and supportive environment, allowing our team to focus on empowering our students to achieve their full potential.

Nget Bunthet joined The Global Child in 2015, bringing his expertise and passion to our science department. He is a dedicated educator, teaching both Biology and Earth Sciences to our students.

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and over 15 years of experience teaching sciences, Nget Bunthet possesses a deep understanding of his subjects. His extensive background enables him to engage and inspire our students, providing them with essential knowledge about the natural world and fostering a scientific curiosity that is vital for their future.

Sinath Chheang has been a cornerstone of The Global Child’s academic team since 2011, bringing a wealth of experience as our dedicated Chemistry Teacher. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, providing a strong foundation for his teaching approach.

With over 25 years of experience in education, Sinath’s extensive background in teaching, particularly in Chemistry, is invaluable to our students. His deep knowledge and passion for the subject not only educate but also inspire our former street children, equipping them with critical scientific understanding and fostering a curiosity that can lead to diverse future opportunities.

Phiyara Dek joined The Global Child in 2025, bringing his passion and expertise to our students as a Karate Teacher. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature, which complements his holistic approach to student development.

Through the discipline of karate, Phiyara not only teaches physical skills but also instills crucial values such as respect, focus, and perseverance in our former street children. His presence significantly enriches our students’ lives, providing them with confidence and valuable life lessons that extend far beyond the dojo, right here in Krong Siem Reap.

Yang Heang has been the heart of The Global Child’s residential care since 2018, serving as our devoted House Mother. She plays a crucial role in ensuring the beauty, cleanliness, and safety of the school and its grounds, creating a nurturing and secure environment for all our students.

Beyond her responsibilities for the physical space, Yang Heang also supervises students who assist her, empowering them with practical life skills. Most importantly, she truly embodies the role of a second mother to all students at TGC, offering unparalleled care, guidance, and emotional support. Her dedication ensures that our former street children feel loved, safe, and truly at home as they pursue their education in Krong Siem Reap.

Sokhun Lun has been a cherished member of The Global Child team since 2013, sharing the rich cultural heritage of Cambodia as our Khmer Traditional Dance teacher.

With a Certificate in Khmer Traditional Dance, Sokhun brings authentic knowledge and passion to her role. She plays a vital part in preserving and passing on this beautiful art form, providing our students with a unique opportunity for cultural enrichment, creative expression, and a strong connection to their heritage. Her dedication enriches the lives of the former street children we serve and helps them build confidence and grace.

Makara Phou serves as the dedicated Accountant at The Global Child, playing a crucial role in ensuring the transparent and efficient management of our resources. She joined TGC in September of 2015, bringing her strong financial expertise to support our mission.

With a Bachelor’s Degree, Makara’s meticulous work behind the scenes is essential for the smooth operation of our programs, directly enabling us to provide high-quality education and support to former street children. Her commitment helps guarantee that every donation and every resource is effectively utilized to empower our students and build brighter futures.

Chea Savy is a highly valued member of our teaching team, leading our Khmer language instruction. His commitment to education extends beyond our school, as he also conducts research and teaches at a local university.

With a Master’s Degree, Chea Savy brings a deep academic perspective to his role. He is passionate about his work and enjoys engaging in discussions, particularly over coffee, reflecting his collaborative and approachable nature. We are incredibly proud to announce that Chea Savy is the Winner of the prestigious Angkor Dictation Event in 2025, a testament to his exceptional knowledge and dedication. Leng Somlot joined The Global Child in December 2024, and she quickly became an invaluable member of our team, serving as our talented Chef.

With a Certificate as a Chef, Leng Somlot brings her exceptional culinary skills to our kitchen every day. She prepares delicious and nourishing meals that are loved by all our students, contributing significantly to their well-being and happiness. Her presence has also been a great benefit to the organization, helping us manage resources efficiently. Leng Somlot’s dedication ensures our students are well-fed, healthy, and ready to learn, making her a vital part of our mission in Krong Siem Reap.

Soben Sorn joined The Global Child in 2014, bringing a unique blend of educational expertise and compassionate social work to our organization. With a Master’s Degree in English Literature, Soben’s strong academic background is instrumental in his role as an English teacher, where he empowers our students with vital language skills that open doors to future opportunities.

Beyond the classroom, Soben also serves as TGC’s social worker. His deep understanding of our students’ backgrounds and challenges allows him to provide invaluable support, ensuring their well-being and fostering a nurturing environment conducive to learning and personal growth. Soben is dedicated to staying informed, regularly reading international news in both Khmer and English, which broadens his perspective and enriches his ability to connect with and educate our diverse student body.
