Meet the Team – Cambodia
Check out the amazing team that works with and cares for our students in Siem Reap.
Dara has served in various educational roles for years and has strong international and local ties. He will be boots-on-the-ground running the virtual lessons, training, buying supplies, and distributing materials to TGC and the community. Dara holds a Master’s in Education from Build Bright University and has many certifications in education and English. Besides his role as an English teacher and Principal at TGC since 2010, he has advised and led a variety of other groups, consulted with other nonprofits, and run International English Language Conferences. Most recently, he has hosted the EdCamp Virtual Conference for Distance Learning for the U.S. Embassy and is an active member of TESOL.
Chaylon Kheang is the assistant school principal, as well as a teacher for numerous subjects. She has a Master’s Degree in Management. Chhaylon has been at TGC since 2010 and has 20 years of prior management and teaching experiences. Besides her role as the assistant school principal, she teaches Khmer, Math, Physics, Science, Home Affairs, as well as works with the Mentoring and Social Program.
Chanthou Soeurng has been the administrator of The Global Child since 2015. She has a Bachelor’s Degree.
Makara Phou is the accountant at The Global Child. She has a Bachelor’s Degree and has been working at TGC since September of 2015.
Cheng Lim Kouy
Cheng Lim Kouy, affectionately known by the students as “Mum Lim,” has been with The Global Child since its inception in 2004. She is responsible for all the high-quality food prepared and served to all students and staff. Mum Lim also provides ongoing support and encouragement for the students and helps ensure their safety and happiness.
Mot Pov has been The Global Child’s House Mother, also known as “Mum Pov,” since 2004. She is responsible for the beauty, cleanliness, and safety of the school and its grounds, and supervises the students who assist her. Mum Pov also acts as the gardener.
Orn Pheoun, has worked at The Global Child since 2011 and currently serves as a maintenance technician. He has a Bachelor’s Degree.
English Teacher and Social Worker
Soben Sorn has been with The Global Child since 2014, serving as an English teacher and TGC’s social worker. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and spends his time reading international news, both in Khmer and in English. Soben has 5 years of experience in teaching.
Piseth Nou is a part-time English teacher at The Global Child and has been with us since 2011. He has a Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in English. Piseth has 12 plus years serving as an English teacher.
Sophea Noun has been with The Global Child since 2014, teaching history, geography, and social science. He has dual Bachelor’s Degrees in History and Geography and Computer Science and is working on a Master’s Degree in General Management. He has worked as an educator for 9 years, including his time at TGC.
Sinath Chheang has been Chemistry at The Global Child since 2011. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Sinath has over 22 years of experience in education and in his capacity as a Chemistry teacher.
Chhean Chheng has been working with The Global Child since 2011 and has served as a Biology teacher (both in Khmer and English). He has a Master’s Degree in Management. Chhean has over 18 years of experience as a teacher, many of those spent teaching Biology.
Vinida Kham has been working with TGC since 2011, teaching Biology and Earth Sciences. She is a secondary teacher in Education with over 30 years of experience as an educator.
Nget Bunthet has worked with The Global Child since 2015 and teaches Biology and Earth Sciences. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and has taught sciences for over 14 years.
Kimkourng Hong has been working at The Global Child since 2017, serving as a Math and Science Teacher. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a concentration in Math. Kinkourng has worked as a teacher for over 15 years.
Sonita Sem has been working with The Global Child since 2017 as a Math teacher. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a concentration in Math. Sonita has been teaching for 4 years.
Chea Savy teaches Khmer and also does research and teaches at the local university. He has a Master’s Degree and likes to discuss his work over coffee.
Manin Oem has been teaching Computer classes at The Global Child since 2010. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
Da Yan has been working at The Global Child since 2013, teaching computer classes. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
Savann Orn has been working in the field for over 11 years. He currently works at The Global Child as an art teacher. Savann received a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management and completed his art studies at Phare Ponleu Selapak Art School.
Phit Chhim has taught/ worked in the field for over 15 years. He teaches the student’s collage art and architecture. Phit is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Architecture.
Khay Khandy is the Morality teacher at The Global Child and has been teaching here since 2017. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. In Khay’s role, he helps teach the students about the central principle of Morality and good behavior.
Sophanna Prak has been teaching music for 7 years and serves as The Global Child’s music teacher. For years, Sophanna has been composing, playing, and sharing his original music.
Hourn Hun has worked at The Global Child since 2013 serving as one of the traditional Khmer dance teachers.
Sokhun Lun has worked for TGC since 2013 as a Khmer traditional dance teacher. She has a certificate in Khmer Traditional Dance.
Phearun Dek has been a part of The Global Child since 2004, serving as a karate teacher. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature.
