This June, we’ve seen incredible progress across all areas of our mission, from student well-being to community engagement and cultural enrichment.
Prioritizing Health and Well-being
Our K5 students received full health screenings and crucial Hepatitis B vaccinations, ensuring a healthy start to their academic journey. At TGC, keeping our students safe and healthy is always a top priority.
Environmental Stewardship in Action
TGC students, alongside staff and volunteers, participated in a vital community clean-up around Loktaneuy Road and Watbo Village. This hands-on experience taught them the importance of protecting their environment and fostered a sense of community responsibility.
Our students also explored Cambodia’s rich biodiversity at Boeng Pearang Biodiversity Community, thanks to the Cambodian Bird Guide Association. This was a wonderful step toward building future conservation leaders!
Empowering Through Mentoring and Parent Engagement
Our 4th mentoring session was a resounding success, reaching 143 students and 68 parents. Students took the lead, facilitating lessons on reading, hygiene, and nutrition. Meanwhile, parents engaged in a powerful session focused on preventing domestic violence, highlighting our holistic approach to family support.
A Taste of Cultural Exchange
Our K8 students embarked on a delicious cultural journey, learning to prepare traditional Cambodian Amok and classic French Crêpes. Special thanks to T. Chhaylon and volunteer Celia for this fun and tasty exploration of culture and tradition!
French for a Brighter Future
We’re incredibly proud of K11 student Chantha, who is diligently working towards her dream of becoming a doctor. With one-on-one French tutoring from Celia Bouzigues and Clelie, Chantha is opening doors to global medical opportunities. We’re committed to supporting her every step of the way.
Welcoming New Talent
A warm welcome to Millie Jeans from EurasiaNet! Millie will be teaching English and French through April 2026, bringing new energy and valuable opportunities to our classrooms. With her new bike, she’s now reaching more students across Siem Reap, teaching English and leading weekend activities!
Learning Vital Life Skills
With help from Millie and Celia, our students—especially K5—learned vital swimming skills during the public holiday. This initiative combined safety, confidence, and fun, all rolled into one!
Advocating for Women and Boys
TGC proudly brought 24 girls to the 11th Women’s Period Day hosted by the Women’s Resource Center (WRC). This was an important step in breaking menstrual stigma and promoting health education. Our male students also engaged in an open discussion on puberty and mental wellness, emphasizing empowerment through knowledge for every child.
Combating Child Vulnerability
Mr. Soben represented TGC at a multi-NGO forum addressing violence against working children, collaborating with the Network NGOs for safer, healthier futures.
Eco-Friendly Initiatives
Our K5 students joined our environmental efforts by purchasing their first reusable water bottles, reducing plastic waste, one step at a time.
A Farewell to a Dedicated Volunteer
We said goodbye to Teacher Celia Bouziques, who volunteered with us for a full year. Thank you for your dedication—you’ll always be part of our TGC family!
