My name is Touk Sokoam. I was born and raised in Siem Reap province. I began my educational journey at The Global Child (TGC) in 2009, an opportunity that transformed my life significantly. Growing up in Siem Reap province, I faced numerous challenges, including financial hardships and limited access to education. TGC provided me with a supportive environment where I could focus on my studies and personal development. After eight enriching years, I graduated from TGC in 2017, equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue my higher education. In 2022, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Management at the University of Southeast Asia, a milestone made possible by receiving a scholarship from JWOC, which alleviated the financial burdens of my studies. This scholarship was instrumental in allowing me to concentrate fully on my academic and extracurricular activities without the constant worry of financial constraints.
Currently, I am employed as an HR and Admin Manager at Kulen Spring Co., Ltd., where I apply the theories and principles I learned during my studies to real-world scenarios, contributing to the company’s human resources strategies. My role allows me to engage with various aspects of employee management and organizational development, which I find both fulfilling and challenging. As of 2024, I am also pursuing a Master’s degree in Management at BBU University. This advanced degree will not only enhance my understanding and skills in management but also prepare me for leadership roles in the future. My ultimate goal is to become an NGO school director, where I can leverage my education and experience to inspire and empower young leaders, children, and women in my community. I am committed to making a positive impact and believe that furthering my education is a crucial step toward achieving this aspiration.
I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to The Global Child (TGC) organization for their unwavering support and dedication to raising and educating children like myself. From the moment I joined TGC in 2009, I was welcomed into a nurturing environment that transformed my life. The opportunities provided to me—educational resources, emotional support, and a sense of community—have been invaluable. TGC not only equipped me with essential skills and knowledge but also instilled in me a love for learning and a belief in my potential.
The dedication of the staff and volunteers at TGC to the well-being and development of each child is truly inspiring. They have worked tirelessly to create an atmosphere where we could thrive academically and personally. Thanks to their support, I was able to overcome significant challenges and pursue my dreams. Graduating from TGC in 2017 was a monumental achievement, one that I could not have reached without the foundation that TGC laid for me.
As I continue my educational journey, now pursuing a Master’s degree in Management, I carry with me the values and lessons instilled by TGC. I am committed to giving back to my community and making a positive impact in the lives of others, just as TGC has done for me.
